Hip Surgery: Hip PrecautionsAs you recover from hip replacement surgery, you will begin to feel stronger and stronger each day. But thereare precautions you need to take to keep your new hip healthy. Follow this checklist to make sure you healsafely.DO: Talk to your healthcare provider or physical therapist about ways to avoid bending your hip more than 90degrees. For example, wear slip on shoes to avoid bringing your knee to your body to tie laces. DO: Sit in afirm chair that has arms. A chair with a higher seat may make it easier for you to get in and out of it withoutbending forward.DO: Sleep on your back with legs straight. If you sleep on your side, put a pillow between your legs to keepthem straight. Do Not: Turn your leg inward. Check with your healthcare provider to find out when you canreturn to the activities you enjoy like golf.Do Not: Cross your legs or ankles and do not twist your upper body at the waist.
